For over 40 years, Gillionville Church has served families in southwest Georgia. We love God, love our neighbors, and seek ways to serve both.
OUR MISSION & VALUES
Gillionville Church exists to help build families that will passionately follow Jesus for generations. We embrace three core values as we pursue this mission: Our reach is determined by our relationships. Our guiding impulse is generosity. Our greatest legacy will be the generations we disciple.
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
OUR BELIEFS
The most crucial beliefs a person forms are about who God is, the nature of human beings, and how we are meant to relate with Him. Some of life’s most important decisions are based upon those beliefs. Our beliefs and decisions about God have eternal consequences. Our full statement of beliefs is the Baptist Faith and Message.
God created and governs the universe. He has always existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. God is perfect in His love, wisdom, knowledge, justice and mercy. He is ever-present, eternally unchanging and infinitely powerful.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered His life as the perfect sacrifice for people’s sins by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again to judge both the living and the dead.
The Bible is God’s word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the standard of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
People were created by God in His image and are the supreme object of His creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us have an attitude of disobedience and rebellion toward God. This attitude and our rebellious decisions are called “sin.” Like other kinds of disobedience and rebellion, sin is an offense that deserves to be punished. The punishment for sin is separation from God in this life and in eternity. All people are separated from God because all people sin.
The Gospel (a word that simply means “good news”) is that Jesus offers to accept the punishment from God the Father our sin deserves. He receives our punishment and in exchange gives us forgiveness and a new life in Him! This is why Jesus died on a cross, as punishment for the sins of other people. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ and receiving God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved.
